U.S.-based renewable energy operations provide jobs, cleaner air, and freedom from dependency on fossil fuels. The continued growth of this industry, however, relies extensively on the expansion of the U.S. electric transmission grid. While the United States has some of the most abundant renewable resources in the world, they are predominantly located in remote areas. This poses a problem: How can the energy generated in these areas be transported to communities that need power? Today, Pattern Development and Western Spirit are working to solve this problem by focusing on the expansion of transmission capabilities across the U.S.
